This is my page where you will find lots of info on the restoration of my MR2
You wont find many credits for those that have helped me with this except for the ones on the phone taking my orders for parts- yes I did the entire thing myself, start to finish.

The car itself is a 91 MR2 fitted with a TRD widebody kit, custom red and black leather interior, and a specially built "Hybrid" engine.
About the engine
The engine is a Toyota 5SFE engine found in most of toyotas cars ie. camry celica etc. What I did in my case is a little different than most.
I started with the head, Porting and polishing on this head is very effective as the head from toyota is an economy head used for good gas mileage. The ports were matched to the intake and exhaust, and under the valve seats were opened up and rounded out to improve flow charachteristics.

Next I went on to the question of turbo or no turbo- Where I came out was turbo. I fitted a CT26 turbo and manifold from an MR2 turbo 2.0 3SGTE engine. All that was left was to feed the turbo oil and water and I could start it up. To feed the oil to the unit I used a "T" fitting placed before the oil pressure sensor, and ran an oil line to the turbo, the return line dumps into the side of the oil pan through a nipple that was welded in place. Coolant lines were moved from the throttle body heater hoses over to the turbo. next it was on to the fuel system...
painted finally

fuel and intake system
The fuel system was upgraded by adding recalibrated injectors and a fuel pressure regulator that uses boost level to determine the adequate ammount of pressure on the fuel rail. An MSD 6BTM keeps the spark timing in line by retarding the spark 1 degre for each lb of boost. The "plumbing" was made with mandrel bent 2.5" stainless pipe and silicone couplings. to cool the charge air a stock Toyota MR2 intercooler does the trick

To answer some questions, the corner lenses are from an acura integra, call it ricey, call it what you want, but the factory JDM mr2 corners are frosted white, these are the only truly clear corner lenses on the market, with a little cutting they fit like a glove.

yes its red
After the 300 zx headlight conversion and a little bit more buffing, I will be on my way to NOPI nationals in atlants, see you in september
